Does it have Shim on Top or Shim on Bottom Buckets?

If you're going to twist the thing to death, Shim on Bottom is what you want. Remember, a free wheeling motor that's past it's peak HP RPM is only consuming time without gaining anything.

Try launching about 6500 and set your limiter to 9000 to start with, then adjust from there. If the motor is producing respectable torque, it will leave just fine. The rest is in the gearing and how well you can launch it ;)

How many gears are you actually using anyway?

just seems like .004 isnt enough, i know in automotive applications a valve stem will grow that much with heat on the exhaust side

If you want, you can go to .006" lash. No problem at all.
