If the stud broke off, then you should be able to grab it with a pair of needle nose or something, and pull it straight out. If it keeps spinning, then keep twisting and the stud should unscrew, and then you SHOULD be able to pull it out.
As for the gasket scraper, I used a putty knife, beveled one side with a grinder, and used that. Just be careful not to gouge the casing and you're good. :)

Also, anytime its running poorly and carbs are off, check intake seal to head. Common Z issue.

Well, I finally got the heads pulled and got the jugs off. Looks like my smokin problem was due to the huge crater running the length of the sleeve. Looks like its time for a big bore kit. Any suggestion on size, cams, cranks? I'm not quite sure what I'm doin when it come to beefin it up but i would like a lot of power while keeping it street legal. Any input helps.
Thanks guys!

+1 and get a JIS screwdriver. It will save you a lot of headache and stripped screw heads.
I was astonished at the effectiveness of JIS screwdrivers. +1
I have set of screwdriver bits, there are 4 sizes of phillips bits, never had problems.
