How tight should new pins be stock rods, easy to install or hard?

You don't say what you're working on. But if your pistons take circlips, then with a bit on engine oil on the pin, it should slid in. If everything is clean, no burr's etc.

Shot peen can roll a burr into the hole. Just deburr it.

Ok you need to give some more Bike/ motor info. Wrist Pin Dia could be different with the piston set your using, or something. Give some info as to the bike, motor and piston kit.
You would have to accurately measure the Small end of each connecting rod, where the pin goes. Also the wrist pins. then in the service manual it will have the clearance spec. It would be the kind of job for a machine shop, not just for the measuring, but then the Honing for clearance. If that's what it needs.

Ok the original bike specs 1978 kz650 and the piston kit came from wiesco, a 710 kit to be exact. i did a total tear down and started from scratch. new main and rod bearings, alot of bead blasting and alot of cleaning the bike was purchased off craigslist for two hundred bucks what a mess! but it was a great project for my son and i, then we started the top end reassembly and the rods were shot peened and balanced the first pin went in fairly easy the rest well lets say we are stalled. i have the rods and cases already reassembled so i really dont want to tear down again. help

The wrist pin went in fairly easy?
Is it only 1 rod your having problems with?
The shop that was doing your Rods, did they forget to check the fit, after shot peening?
It would only be a Burr at the edge of the hole, at the small end of the rod. A bit of Emery Paper, just on that edge, might de-burr it. Stuff the Crankcase with clean rags, so as to keep it clean.

On the OEM pistons/pins I installed, it was a "zero tolerance" fit kind of thing. You could slide them in ONLY if you aligned them perfectly and there was some resistance. BTW: In my case the base gasket was defective so I ended up having to tear the engine down again in about 200 miles. At that point, the pins had "set" in so tight I had to use the pusher tool to get them out.

one more thought on this issue, im considering one more fix idea. i thought about bending a eighth inch wire in half over a small slice of scotch brite and then spining it in the small end only a few turns to debur, what do you guys think

that is more like honing the bore of the wrist pin.

if you just need to de-burr.
some emery cloth wrapped around your finger held at 45 degrees to the bore and work your way around the circumference trying NOT to touch the wrist pin bore should do it.
you are just trying to remove the burr from the edge.

i would wrap the emery around a dowel or something hard. this will help to focous on the egdge, and not creep into the bore. u might chech the oil hole for a burr as well.
