Buzzing vibration around 2300 RPM fixed

Hi Guys I had an issue with a small buzzing vibration feeling/sound whenever I rev'ed passed 2300 RPM going up or going down on my 1991 KZ1000 Police. Nothing above or below that and it was pissing me off.
It sounded like it was near/at the exhaust system at the lower front of the motor.
I started my search by making sure all the clamps were tight and none of the small shields were loose or buzzing when I rev'ed it up. It was still buzzing so I kept looking. It seemed to me that the shifter was very close to the side of the motor but didn't look like it was touching. I pulled the floorboard and shift linkage assembly and found a small area on the engine that shows the signs of being "in contact" with the linkage. So it seems when the linkage was moving around and the motor was moving around they hit each other (at 2300 RPM).
I shortened the pivot of the linkage at the mounting bolt by about an 1/8" in width(also had to shorten the bushing too) to allow the linkage to be another 1/8" further away from the engine when everything was tightened up.

Runs like a new bike. MUCH smoother feeling everywhere in the RPM range.

I don't see anything weird to make the area so close but the problem is gone.

That sucker has been hitting for a while.

Maybe someone else has seen this before.

Thanks P21. I checked them a while back but I just checked again last night. There are torqued.
I'm thinking maybe the shift linkage had just enough slop to allow it to contact the sprocket cover but the bolt was tight and the spacer is what sets the distance and there is really no sign of wear on the linkage pivot.
The Bike hasn't been in any major crash or anything that I can tell.
You can actually see where the welded nut on the linkage was hitting on the cover.
And then there is the fact that the buzz went away after moving the linkage over.
I thought maybe someone else may have the same problem to a varying degree and they might look for any signs of contact. It fact, I wonder how many people, if they look, can find some sign of contact in that area???

Thanks for the suggestion though and I checked them
