E3 Spark Plugs

Has anyone tried E3 Plugs with any success? I have been thinking about using them on the next tune up but I have heard mixed reviews (many positive and a few negative conjectures). I was wondering if anyone had used them and likes them. In the past, I have used ye old Split Fires in two strokes with a lot of success so I am not afraid to try any new technology. I just don't want to waste money on a product that someone has found doesn't work well in the KZ 650.

BTW, I have been doing some research, so I am not interested in learning about the operating principles of the spark plug. I know that seems a little off putting, but it REALLY gets old and very tedious trying to read through all the minutia.

I am a mechanic by trade so this is nothing new to me, I am just looking for someone with experience with this product.

Thanks in advance,

P.S. As I read this post, I hope that no one thinks that I am some jerk. I am sure that there are others in the forum who know what I am talking about with those who think it's cool to pontificate about meaningless garble without answering a simple question. Yes, it has really been a thorn in my side...LOL.

Looks like hype to me, but I've never tried them. Maybe someone on this site with a stock bike who has access to a dyno can do a side by side comparison between E3, ND, and NGK plugs of the same heat range to see what, if any, performance differences result.

On one of the car shows that Spike TV has on Sat. Sun. Mornings, they once did a comparison of several plugs including the E3. Ran a baseline test on an engine dyno. Kept everything the same just changed plugs. The E3 got a small boost in HP. Would have thought more about it if E3 wasn’t one of the sponsors of the show.

Hope this isn’t the dribble you were trying to avoid!

The never ending scam built on the sand that if a poorly functioning ignition can reduce performance, then a SUPER ignition must improve performance.

All those extra spark "tongues" do absolutely nothing. The spark jumps whatever path is "shortest" or least resistant based on the ionized air path across the air gap.

It probably won't hurt anything, I guarantee it won't help anything.

I saw the show that did the plug run on the dyno, and yes it was paid for by E3 but, it did show a boost in HP.
I have been around multi electrode plugs in the Gas industry, the main thing you gain is less chance of miss fire since the spark does take the least path of resistance, so the thought is if it has a chance of miss fire due to a fuel or weak spark issue you have 3 more chances to get the plug to fire.
Bottom line, if your ignition is working like it should I really dont see the need in the expense of the plugs

These seem to be based on the same theory as the so-called surface gap plugs used in the 1960s in two strokes. As mentioned above, it was a way to hedge your bets against misfire. With the advent of more dependable electronic ignitions, those plugs went the way of the dinosaurs.

P.S. If they really make measurable horsepower, then I'm sure Saleen, SMS, AMG, Lingenfelter and all the rest would be using them.

muzzy did dyno tests on there dual plugged heads back in the 80's. he said that there was no hp gain, but they were able to run less advance. i asume this was due to the shortened path the flame now has to travel.
so if he saw no hp gain with 2 plugs, i cant see how it posible to make a gain from 1 slightly dif plug..

No!! I saw that episode and thought the same thing, too. Thanks for the input. I found out that they have a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE...so I might just give them a try. Plus, they have a 5yr/100k mile warranty.

Well, the surface gap plugs are still in use with rotaries...and I'm a rotary guy. I thought the same things about the surface gap thing but wasn't sure.
