I'm only 6'3", and I feel pretty cramped on my '80 ST. That's why I'm going to fab up some forward controls. I honestly can't fathom how so many people can ride for so long with the standard ones. Any type of a sport bike that I've sat on, I feel like it's more of a toy than a motorcycle. (Size wise)
I love the design on some of them, but I just can't ride them.

Those sportbikes are designed to keep the rider and the bike in a small package. 6'3-5" you probobly would need some adjustable rear sets. But keep in mind it's a different riding style/position. At the time I bought my ZX6R I had a HD, Z1 and rode MX. I used to laugh when I took a turn on the HD with my foot out toward the front wheel. lol

Considering I have no budget at this point, let's roll with the 1197! [You have a 570 area code... where are you at?]

I like these old Z1s and KZs. ANYONE can go buy a modern 250/500/600/750/1000/1200/1600, etc. and just blend into the crowd. I'd rather build something that is truly MINE. Man, if you guys knew how many random old dudes approached me and struck up a conversation on my bike! The guys I go riding with (one has an R6) cannot understand why people like my bike so much- the thing is I haven't even done a whole lot to it.

I'm looking for something that'll be parked probably 80% of the time. My KZ900 is my daily driver and I don't intend for that to change. I'm getting to the point where I need a project bike because I've done a lot of little things to this bike and need to start taking it apart to get to stuff I haven't done yet. B) I'd have to run premium, obviously, maybe spike it with a little avgas for good fun.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on a BMW S1000RR. But, the end of the day, I decided that paying $2,000 a year for insurance was ridiculous (I'm almost 24 with a flawless record). I pay $200 a year for excellent coverage on my 900.

The funny thing is that with a 705 kit, modded carb intake and exhaust, bigger valves, hot cams, stage 2 port job, the whole 9 yards you would need about 2.2 KLR's to make 125 crank hp :pinch:

I don't see how getting desmo to work at high rpm would be hard at all, wouldn't it be the opposite? no valve springs to float???

Who wants to do a valve adjustment on one of those though, and the shop fees to do one are pretty scary

Yeah no valves, btu you still have a lot of moving parts to accelerate.
