Hey Gang. Having a helluva time finding a early 80's kz1000 up here in Vancouver. Plenty of 750's tho. I have a line on a late 70's turbo 1000 engine w/ S&S carbs for $500. Could I drop that into a 750 frame with minimal effort?
I remember a friend who did that with a 750 virago - his 1100 motor bolted right in.
Your thoughts?
Thanks!
Kai

well you can put anything into anything if you want to bad enough! :woohoo: id check out that $500.00 really good before you buy it,they tend to live a rough life and may need a lot of money to put back together.you also need to make sure the rest of bike is up to all that new found horsepower brakes, tires, bearings and all that good stuff .can you get a picture of the motor and turbo?

No pic, sorry. I plan on rebuilding whatever I get from the ground up anyway - I'm a HD mechanic so I'll do what I can, but I always run my bike through a qualified Kawasaki shop for safety's sake.
I think my best alternative is picking up a used cop KZ1000 from Ebay - they seem plentiful enough in California. But what a hassle!

A suggestion if I may...
If I were looking for the best available value in a used copsickle with the least amount of exposure, I'd give John Cordsen at Western Motorcycle Escort a call.

Go to Classifieds, click on WME Motorcycles for sale.
Having watched the goings on over on the Yahoo KZ1000P group for a bit and having heard the various tales of woe about Ebay and Hollywood Motors, I've *yet* to hear a bad thing about WME.
This isn't a commercial, and I've never done business with the man.
I have exchanged a couple of amiable emails with him, but that's the extent of it.
You might pay a few extra bucks up front, but unless you know silk purses from sow's ears sight unseen, it can save the uninitiated bucks in the long run and headaches galore....

Well, I'm off to pick up a 1984 KZ750LTD I found for $300 (canadian!). Sight unseen, it runs, has less that 5k on the Odometer, needs a few parts, aparrently has never been dumped - just worked on & not reassembled (clutch cable loose, fussy ignition etc.) so we'll have to see what's going on. Still has the stock bridgestone whitewalls in decent shape.... we'll see.
So now I at least have something to try & shove that turbo 1000 into.... wish me luck!
