Cam chain replacement

Just a quick thought.

Is there such a thing as a cam chain for a KZ1300 with a master link? Is there a way to change one WITHOUT splitting the engine apart? A fiend has one with 113,000 miles that he is probably going to sell CHEAP due to cam chain stretched out.

Here is one 1300 link I found, and they seem to have a very good price on the chain. they have several rivet style links, but I don't see the one for that chain. Maybe call them or email.

That is a Hi-Vo chain and there is not one that has a master link. I have never seen one that was stretched out.

Realistically I don't foresee buying this bike, but a good friend bought it in the crate when he was working for a Kawasaki dealer in 1979. I was attracted to the bike as a really young kid and always dreamed of owning it. Now he has two others along with maybe 6 or 7 other KZs and several other non KZ bikes. He's talking about down sizing to move. I could probably get it cheaper than anyone else could, but I'm probably just dreaming......

Thanks for the tips!

Like all gear heads, the fun part is getting the bike for cheap, tearing the motor apart, replacing the chain and all the guides and sprockets, inspecting each and every part of the process, and determining what needs to be replaced (if anything), and then basically having a new engine on the bike you've always wanted since you were a kid. *feel free to personalize this statement by inserting "I" in the appropriate places*
And this way, you know every piece of your bike, what every internal part looks like, the condition of it, and then you can put 113k of your own on it without a worry. At least, that's my plan with my bike. B)

What you haven't bought it? Come on go get it. Live it. Make it yours, why not?
Post some pictures with it at your house. :)

sure it's the cam chain? check the wheel on the tensioner arm and top guide wheel/sprocket first. Z1300.de.com has master
links and chains. updated to zx11 tensioner?
