Oil filter brand --- Which is the best?

My oil filter's OEM: 16099-003
Z1 Enterprises lists EMGO & Fram as source brands for this filter. Does anyone know of any other manufacturers of Kawasaki oil filters?

Does anyone have a link to a 'recent' comparison test of oil filter brands?

I buy my Emgo filters from Z1, four at a time. I think the best filter is the one that gets changed regularly.

'76 KZ900 LTD (Blaze)
'96 Voyager XII (Dark Star)
'79 KZ650 Cafe Project (Dirty Kurt)
Greensboro, NC

Good advice there from ltdrider!

Personally I try to stay away from Fram filters. Use an Emgo or I've also seen K&N and another brand I can't recall right now.

Get right or get left! <*{{{><

If your local Kawasaki dealer's oil
filter part number is:
16099-003 "Filter,Oil (3C)"

You can replace it with;

Emgo: 10-37500
Fram: CH6012
Hastings: LF571
Honda: 15410-426-010
Honda: 15410-300-024
Kawasaki: 16099-003
K&N: KN-401
NAPA: 4941
Perf-Form: J-501
Purolator: ML 16812
STP: SMO-12
Triumph: 1210031
Yamaha: 36Y-13441-00

P.S. Personaly ? I use the Purolator, Pep Boys stocks em.

Here's an oil filter comparison study for anyone who is interested:
minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html#fram-ph8a
Oh, and while your at it read this oil filter overview:
minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.html
I use the NAPA Gold #4941 which is readily available locally and I think is made by WIX and looks identical to the WIX #24941.

Napa gold AKA wix.

That's all I use now. In all of my vehicles.

From what I've read, Purolator Pure One is the best...

1980 KZ750-H1 (slightly altered)
1987 KZ1000-P6 "Ponch"
1979 GS1000 "Dadzuki"

Thanks to you all. In my quest for knowledge, while awaiting reply, I did find the 'Oil Filter Studies' as oldcoldankles listed. However, I also found a link to this study with an expanded Conclusion section at the end which provides some additional insight and interesting reading.

From what I can grasp from the 'Conclusion' section of the link below - of those brands compatable (Thanks DW) to the KAWI OEM - Purolator & Wix (Napa) are the writer's preferences.

Thanks again!
