It depends on your riding?
Is it High Perf? Dragrace?
Or just a custom street cruiser.
You can ad links and use 2 master links.
Or buy new.

630 or 530?

I have a piece of EK630 no o-ring.
And a piece of D.I.D. with o-ring 630.

First I would put the chain on the top of the sprockets and count the links between half way down one sprocket to halfway down the other. Multiply by 2 and add 2 links for insurance. Also if I was adding links to a chain I would not use multiple c-clip master links. I'd rivet them but that is just me. I know others would use multiple c-clips. I don't like taking chances or the phrase I might get away with it. I read where a circle clip failed on a police bike and the chain just snaked right off but if it had bound up in the engine case there could have been big trouble for the bike and for the rider.
Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

add 2 links for insurance.

You could always looks at the chain standard specifications ... some of it here -- > www.gizmology.net/sprockets.htm

By this way you know that for example a 630 chain is EXACTLY 3/4 inch of pitch (per link) and you know by how much you stretched the bike then you can calculate the new length required for the new chain. This way you can be sure there is no surprise or guess...

Btw, masterlink are as SOLID as riveted chain!
It's just how well you installed it that may make the difference between «never had a problem with it» and «I always loose those damn clips on my masterlink» ...

Anyway, I don't want to start that flamewar again!

Hope this help!

Complicated compared to chopping up and rewelding the entire rear end of the motorcycle?

As the o'ring chain is wider, it will be more likely to rub against and leave ugly black grease marks on the whitewalls of the over-sized rear tire. Some users report that using white grease helps reduce tire marking for about the first 42.7 feet.

Since most hard-tails aren't ever ridden very far (mostly short trips to the dentist to replace tooth fillings that have jarred loose, or to the chiropractor for spinal adjustments, or to the local drugstore for Preparation H), and will therefore require less chain maintenance, the thinner non-o'ring chain should be okay.

Actually, serious motorcycle drag racers (and even some semi-serious motorcycle racers) prefer non-o'ring chain which eliminates the "drag" inherent with o'ring chains and of course the extra weight added by the o'rings and wider rollers.
