Snake Oils. What does everyone use? was created by GPz750KS
I was just wondering what brands and types of "Snake Oils" that people use. Example:Lucas, STP, Slick 50, etc.
I personally don't have any favorites or use any religously. I occasionally try something but haven't found that one item that really works or worth the money spent on it. I do use the XADO grease for lubrication of bearings, but that would be it.

Maybe someone has a good one that worth the $$$.

Just curious,
Richard Z.

MMO, Marvel Mystery Oil, does a great job of softening carbon.
I have my leaf blower piston soaking right now. Stuck rings.

ATF, Automatic Transmission Fluid, seems to do a better job
on rusty fasteners than any of the penetrating oils I've tried.
It's also good for freeing up rusty control cables.

I add nothing to oil or gas except castor oil in my two strokes
because I like the smell. IMO this curbside find leaf blower
would still be working if it had had castor oil used in it.

Lucas oil and their stabilizer,Lucas fuel conditioner.
Noticeable improvements with their oil seem to make my motors run smoother and the oil retains its viscosity when it's time to change, and the oil is cleaner looking at change time too.
Their fuel conditioner keeps the carbs clean and makes low grade fuel a lot better !!!
Engine restore i've used in some motors with mileage and that stuff pretty much does what it says .
I hear Seafoam works wonders, but never tried it.
Don't know much about other snake oils , i just syick to what works for meB)

I know this is an old one, but where you say stabilizers, are you talking about the oil stabilizer? I ran across Lucas Motorcycle Oil and it said something about not harming the clutches.

Reason I ask, of course, is because there's been some discussion on here about additives in the oil especially those with friction reduction features.

So, is Lucas a good oil for these bikes, or should other types be considered first.

I use all the other Lucas products on my pick up and wife's SUV, and I really like them:)

I use SeaFoam in the tank every once in a while. MMO in the oil once a year.

When I had my 650 I used to add Redex to the fuel in winter, it stopped the carbs "hanging" (or whatever you call it, failing to shut properly).

I use Duralube in my car, I don't use ANYTHING in my bikes. I do swear by Duralube though, too bad it would make my clutch inoperable. The only other magic snakeoil I use is WD-40 :) Use that for all kinds of stuff.

Yep, IMHO, oil additives are just a way to transfer money from my pocket to someone else's pocket, never seen scientific tests that prove they do more good than harm.

Fuel injection/carb cleaner to the fuel to clean carbs (my own testing has shown that it works), and StayBil added to the gas when storing for the winter has been shown to work.

I don't have any snakes, so I don't need any "Snake oils" :D

I am not a big additive fan, although if I dont run fuel injector cleaner inthe truck about every other mth, fuel mileage drops and it gets a rough idle.
I do run mobil one in the truck also

Chevron Techtron keeps my injector nozzles clean on the GPZ. Old school favorite is Marvel Mystery Oil. 'Haven't tried them yet, but I'm hearing lots of good things about Lucas products (no relation to the prince of darkness).
I agree with adding Stabil to the fuel. I will NEVER put additives in the motor oil itself. It does triple duty with engine, transmission and clutch so it's compromised already. Put an additive in it and you actually compromise it more, because there is no additive that can improve the characteristics for all three kinds of friction at one time.
