those are the bad spots when they sit with some valves open......

the rest of the engine can often be in great shape....some head work and a piston kit...maybe a gasket kit and the rest is cosmetic...bead blast and you can have a head turner engine easy...and you for sure got the back up for your nice bike...

Makes my free 750 motor look like it's in good shape. I'm sure it's all fixable - just how much work is the question. Like Tri said, you may find that everything below that is in decent shape once it gets some fresh lube, but I would want to tear it down and find out for sure.
