Sound padding was created by TomW
Anybody got a cheap solution to replacing the sound pad under the sprocket cover on a KZ1000? The old one is dis- corporated and new ones are $43. (ouch!) Or do you guys just leave it out and put up with the noise from the chain?

If you find the chain noise bothersome, just remove the baffles from your mufflers.

Was just another effort toward meeting EPA noise standards.

Would toss the padding along with the air injection paraphernalia (where fitted) and pilot screw plugs.

Good Fortune! :)

If u really want to replace it,go to local hardware and get some foam pipe wrap.cut into strips and glue (or not) to the cover.I had to redo mine and thats what I used.Whoever said the chain isnt noisy under that cover has worse hearing than mine and mines BAD.Lol.bj

I run mine without that padding because of the offset sprocket. Not noisy. Maybe it's your chain that's bad or too tight.

What did you say, I can't hear you?

30 yrs. in commercial construction, trap shooting, informal target shooting, 21 yrs. shooting display fireworks, and old age age has taken a toll on my hearing also. Huh? What's that you say, son? I CAN"T HEAR YOU!!!!
I'll leave it out. If'n I see or hear a need, it's an easy fix later.
