Oil Inside the Alternator Cover

How much oil should you expect inside the alternator cover? I get a regular drip and am not sure whether it is because there is oil inside the cover or the cover is not sealed well.My understanding is that some oil gets pumped in during normal use to oil the starter gear and cool the stator.

yep its supposed to have some oil in there,either a gasket is leaking or the plug where wires go into it

Some KZ's run a totally dry charging system, (nicer to work on) and some have a little oil access to it for cooling I guess.

i m with him......i got a fin says the grommet is toast...easy fix.....get a grommet and a gasket and its an hour job drinking suds......:laugh:
