what is the correct installed valve stem length for a gpz 750 with 1.110 base circle cams for the middle of the shim range?

original owner of a 1984 gpz 750

1984 gpz 750 with 810 cc wiesco's megacycle cams(471-10) 34 mm flatslides v&h pipe ported head dyna ignition. bottom end, crank case from turbo 750 and sprockets.

First, verify both cams are 1.110 base circles. I've had GPz 750's with smaller base circle exhaust cams.

If they're both 1.110 37mm should work.

Just make sure you verify both cams ;) I got bit on a valve job because the FSM is wrong. I had to redo the exhaust and sink them more. I didn't have the cams for the head though so I didn't know the exhaust had smaller b/c.

I had already tipped all the valves for 37mm installed height..... Live and learn...

38mm for a 750  You're in for a treat.
Well, we've discussed that elsewhere now haven't we

I'll say this one more time. YOU DON'T NEED A 38MM VALVE TO FEED AN 810CC MOTOR.

That said, here's some info for you :)

In situations like that, you may end up needing cams with smaller base circle. By the time you get the valves far enough apart on the seats, you might have them sunk so deep that even tipping the valves down to the keepers becomes not enough.

Re: spring retainers.... If you tip too much off the valves, you have to address bucket to retainer contact. That requires shortening up the shim collars on the retainers.

IMO, you're pissing in the wind but I don't have to stand next to you getting all wet

Good Luck and may the Force Be With You!!
