Clutch won't engage. was created by notaduc
I have a 1980 kz1000 motor here, countershaft cover is removed, clutch actuator rod moves freely, it doesn't seem to meet any resistance or spring at the end of it's travel, just a dead stop.

Kicker will turn the trans, but not the crank. Currently, I am thinking whatever the rod pushes on it stuck.

I think there is supposed to be a small ball bearing at the end of the passageway the shaft fits into. Can u see up in there to see if the bearing is there?Maybe fish it out ,clean and relube it and see if that will help.I think I have a clutch cover for that bike if u need one.bj

I have a good clutch cover. Just ordered a replacement countershaft cover.

I think I'm going to pull the clutch cover and just see what is going on in there...

And then you get the awful feeling that, is my clutch gone?

I've got 70,000 on my clutch & I am waiting for it this season to tell me, that, it is done and gone. I really don't look forward to doing the work on the bike. But I will do it, because I want to still ride the piss out of it!
