96 KZ1000 Police

I have a 96 KZ1000 Police bike without title I have it torn apart and am fixing to start putting it back together but looking at getting a new title it may be easier and cheaper to find a frame with title to out the engine into. What frames will fit the 96KZ1000 motor I assume any KZ 1000 or maybe 900 frame. Any help or suggestion appreciated.I am in TX if anyone has experience on getting a new title for a bike.

Otherwise, the bike may be eligible for a salvage title. If so, a call or trip to your local TexDot office is in order.

I checked that out before posting on here but am not sure I can go that route because the guy I bought form never got the title from the previous owner. I guess I will go by the DMV and ask but just in case the 96 KZ1000 engine should fit in other Kawi frames right?

If it's feasible, you could always try to contact the last owner that had a title and skip the guy you bought it from.
