If IRC the 87 305's came with an electronic ignition where the 81 and 82 305's used points. This may or may not make a difference as to what you need. I don't have a head but I do have some head gaskets if you need one.

@motorhead. Thanks for the link. Just registered and am waiting to be able to post and see if those guys can help.

@the gringo. I believe your correct, the 81-82 models dont have an electronic ignition. I bought a gasket thinking that was my problem because i saw a leak coming from the head...unfortunately i found out that the valves are bad and a head job is necessary...so i have the gasket, need a head now. :/ I appreciate the offer none-the-less.

@kz1k. only if it was possible. lol

You might also look at the '83 EX305 (GPz305), they have an electronic ignition and it's a good possibility that the head is the same

After taking a better look, an entire head assembly is not going to be needed. Just need to do a valve job. What should i expect to pay? Also, what all is done when getting a valve job? What parts will i need to replace?

Thanks.

I believe most "Valve Jobs" envolve either replacing the burned/bent valves, inspecting the seats and possibly replacing the valve guides for wear. The valve stem seals should also be replaced as the rubber gets hard/brittle and leaks oil.

A shop that has done this before will test the repaired head for leaks by placing th head upside down with the valves closed and then using a measured thin fluid, will check for leaks.

As for the cost, kinda hard to say as labor rates vary from place to place.
