Ground Clearance was created by kool4kawis
Hey guy's, got a question about exhaust collectors.I'm building a pro street kz 1000, strecthed the neck 3", dropped it 2" and raked it to 35 degrees. It has front and rear suspension off a 04' zx636. When I put it on the table for surgery I set the frame rails for 7" of ground clearance. Now that I put the 4 into 1 headers on it I only have 2 1/2 of clearance under the bike. So here's my question; would there be a significant loss in performance if I built a flat 4 into 1 collector instead of using the original "stacked" 4 into 1. I dont want to have to raise the bike and dont want to go to a 150/80/17 front tire instead of the 120 thats on there now

A sidewinder exhaust will solve the problem. The whole system goes around the right side.

yeah but I built forward controls for it so they would be in the way of a sidewinder

looked into those. they are nice pipes but way out of my price range. That collector is what I was thinkin of just didnt know if there was a significant loss in power over the standard type collector. This is by no means a drag bike but I would like the best performance from the pieces I already have

I suspect that a flat chamber will make no difference as long as it is as high as the diameter of each individual pipe and has the same volume as a round collector. LarryC and OMR know a lot more than I do about this. Maybe you should ping them.

I understand the dropped it 2" and raked to 35 deg. but can you explain the neck streched 3"? As for the exhaust problem, go turbo.:woohoo:
