engine and bike identification!!!!!! was created by steveo_4192003
i thought i had a 77 kz650b-1!!!!
but when i looked at the wiring diagram for it , it was missing a few wires ( orng and grn for blinkers ) ect...
now i dont know what i have now, i looked at a b2 and has most of the same wires as what i have.
the only thing it dont show is the green coming off the alt to the regulator. also (the b-2) it only has two wires comming off the alt, were as mine has 3 plus gren for ground, and dont seem to have a rectifier in the diagram!! mine has a rectifier.
maybe some one parted out another bike and used parts on mine???
please help so i can get the right parts if need be!!!
also will frame #s help or engine#s

Check out the model section of
KZ650.info
and compare the engine number to see what you got.

Your frame and engine #s are from a B1 according to
jarle.eltelevest.no/Kawasaki/Series/Z/650/z650p2.htm
coming from the Lincon factory.
The numbers are listed backwards on the site, frame are engine #s and vice versa.

Your alternator has 3 yellow (or white) wires coming out of it plus a green for the field coil (not ground). That makes it a 1977 B1 (or possibly C1). The alternator cover should also have 3 screws in a triangle pattern . That is the give away that it is a 77.
The 77 uses a field coil which is held in with those 3 screws. The 78 and later does not.

i been looking at all the diagrams and the c-1 is the only one that hase all the wires i have!! hazards ect... but its a b-1 bike. (thats what the frame and motor #s say anyway) but the wiring is different. maybe they had options you get on them?
i do got i figured out for now, enough to make it street legal and run, but was just confused on my modle.
thanks all, and ill get pics up a.s.a.p
p.s maybe wire diagrams are labled wrong?
(not likely but possible)
