Hey lads. Got a quick question, or more of a confirmation.

Bringing a kz1100 back to life and I am lacking headers. My research leads mento believe that the cool Z900/1000 stuff Fits on the kz1100 head fine. Lots of used headers around for the 900 on eBay and all the 1100 bits are standard headers.

A definitive answer would be amazing as I've found some nice 900 headers near by me, just don't want to waste my coin.

FWIW, I already have the header mounting hardware to suit kz1100.

Thanks in advance for all your help :)

Im not real sure about the spacing between the cyls being the same, I thought the 1100 was wider than a 900 or 1000, I do know the mounting of the muffler would prob need to be custom made , I have never put a header on that didnt require some type of mod

I think it will work. I have a 82 gpz1100, I am hoping to put a header from a kz900 on it this summer. I understand I will have to rig the mounting hardware, but at the head should be good.

the heads off ALL kz-J,kz, z1 models will swap their pipes no problem,..the sweeps/bends will be okay too...the area from the drivers peg back is where the hanger changes start but can be made with hanger clips

Thanks folks, really was the answer i was hoping for. The muffler arrangement is not important, I can do light fabrication but I didn't feel like making a header/collector. The bike currently has open drag pipes made by myself, but not a practical option for the street.

Thanks once again.

Headers off a GS suzuki can be made to fit also. They don't match up exactly but they are close. Can't remember which one is wider spacing but I have mounted a GS header on a KZ before. Been told that once on and run for awhile the pipes will take a set to new spacing. Not sure if that's true but something I have heard. Something to keep in mind anyway.

The exhaust studs on the Z1 and Kz900 were I belive 6mm, the Kz1000/1100 are 8mm, washers may have to be used to fill potential gaps when tightening down the header clamps(unless you can find matching hardware/clamps).
