Do you happen to know if the new front end is lighter than the original?

well i didn't weigh it , but i can tell you by just picking up the front ends. the usd forks are a heck of alot lighter than stock.
Thanks
How about some more details on the bike? Like what front and rear suspension are you using? And what (if anything) are you doing to the motor?
Looks like a really cool project and I'd like to know more about it.
If you have already mentioned it in ther threads, then links would be fine

Post some more pics as you are crossing the interest levels of most members on this site with a litre motor in a middleweight package. Looking good-Cheers-Colin

1978 kz 650.
2002? (ithink) gsxr 600 entire rear end, i cut and welded the frame to get this to fit right. gsxr 1000 rear sprocket and a 5/8 offset sprocket up front with 530 chain.
2001 front end complete, must swap the steering stem to make fit, then just goes right in. by the way, race tires both back and front, ya know to stick better!!!!
now for the engine since this is the engine forum,
'77 1000 engine bored to a 1075. 10.5:1 compression. 900
crank shaft that is welded. ported and polished head with stainless steel bigger valves. bs 34 carbs that have been tottally reworked by a friend of mine. i have had to cut all of the factory mounting brackets off to get this to fit into the frame.
as for the exhaust. i will have to make a complete exhaust system from scratch since the front end is now dropped down majorly. not so sure about this yet.
if this engine works out good. i have another engine that i have thought about making into like a 1300+ for the street to put into here. maybe in the future.
this project is not for the faint of heart by any means. it has been a pain. but nothing is impossible. i have to say that is how this all started, some one told me that it would "never fit" i had to be hard headed and go for it!!!!!
i do not recommend this to be done again, if i did, i would use a 1000 frame instead of a 650.
i will up date every one as the project progresses.
