The Bimota has a really cool frame and would make a very interesting cafe bike. At one time I thought it would be nice to restore but too much of it is missing and original parts are not to be had.

I'm in the general Houston area, and if you are inclined to move that rolling frame along, I might be interested in it :)

Wow, thanks to everyone for your interest. For now I am planning on the original set up since I have everything from the original kit which was the top level of the three options. One can search and find a couple items from the kits but not much. This is part of my reason for staying original as possible. I have considered other options as mentioned on this forum but have decided to stay with the original cafe theme. I might change my mind later on. The one thing I have not ruled out is a performance build on the engine once I have things sorted out and restored.

I still have that rolling chassis for the Bimota KB1 that I can build a no frills performance cafe style bike out of since much of the original components are missing. There will be no chrome on that one but the Moto Martin will get the nickel plated frame just because that was the way it was originally intended. The Bimota frame will have to wait until the Moto Martin is finished which may take a while since my work schedule gets in the way and I have a budget that I would like to stay within.

Thanks for the pictures. I have been collecting some for quite some time now. There are some nice pictures of some of the Moto Martin's in Europe out there. The bikes that are left have been well taken care of.

Thanks for the link and I have been watching their site for a while and no J model engines until now. I do have a J model engine and just waiting for a friend to bring it from New Mexico to Houston sometime in Nov. probably. I have attached a picture, it is an 86 police bike. The engine is pretty clean with no damaged fins or engine covers. The bike is missing the tank and fenders but I did not need them anyway. There may be some other items on the bike that I can use.

Ok, I have another question for those who have spent many years with their KZ1000's. Having spent many years in the Ducati world and don't get me wrong I love all bikes but the KZ is new to me. While waiting for the engine to show up I have a question. Buy the way I really like the overall appearance of the air cooled KZ engines. The engine will be coming out of an 86 police bike and from what I understand was put aside because of electrical issues that the owner did not want to pay to have sorted out. I have seen new wiring harnesses available for the earlier model KZ engines but not for the J model engines. How much difference is there and does any one know of new harnesses for the J model engine. It is not like I am restoring an existing KZ bike in which everything should have it's place. I will be starting from scratch on the Moto Martin and there is some room for creativity. Nothing on the bike is burned into stone yet. The electrical side will be a challenge and anything I can do that will make it more straight forward would be a big plus. Any input is welcome.

Here's information on the police Kawasaki with wiring diagrams:
www.cyclepsycho.com/kz1000p/kz1000p.html

When you get the engine and need replacement electrical connectors, I have many websites that include them plus tools, and harness tapes(the non sticky type).

A forum member here "Loudhvx" could possibly draw you up a simple wiring diagram to make the bike operational with little work or your part.
