are there any benefits or downfalls to having a 900 block in a 1000 case?

I understand that the case size doesn't matter it was more to satisfy my curiosity than anything. I was simoly going to say that if you really want to you can open up a 900 block almost as big as a 1000. My brothers stock 900 is opened up to a 1230 with a stock head with stage 2 porting.

i just got my head back from pit stop. no porting, just cleaned and sealed. i am hoping my bore/piston meas. is ok so i can just throw a set of rings on.

The blocks are almost identical except for the obvious bore differences. The sleeves in the 903cc block can't take as much bore as the 1015cc blocks but are otherwise pretty much the same. The only place you might have some issues (that I can think of) is where they mate with the cases. On 903 cases you have to bore out the area the block sits in to use a 1015cc block. I don't think it's a big deal, but you now have the opposite problem, cases that are bored for 1015cc and 903cc block which means there will be extra material removed from the mating area.

Be Smart.... Measure the pistons with calipers to be sure it hasn't already been bored before you order anything.
