My KZ1000P ran perfectly until one morning she wouldn't start. It will crank and has spark and fuel. Battery ok. Coils getting 12.9. Fuses good. Carbs clean. New plugs. WTF???

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

spark +fuel+02=ignition.U didnt mention ur air cleaner element.Clean? Is spark nice and fat and blue or weak orange looking?Plug caps nice and tight on plugs? Switches on the bars clean and working properly?Engine stop switch working properly.Do u have a kill switch on the sidestand? If so is it clean and working properly?Clutch switch working properly?I am sure there are others here with other suggestions.Good luck.bj

I'd suggest checking the input voltage to the ignition coils. If it's down around 8-10 volts, you have a connection problem causing a voltage drop.

To check the voltage, remove the gas tank, get a multimeter, set it on Volts D.C.(VDC)range of 20. Turn on the ignition, and with the RED probe of the multimeter touching the RED wires going to the coils(it goes to both of them)put the BLACK probe on a part of the frame or the Negative battery terminal.

If the battery is in good shape, you should read almost the same voltage.

For an engine to run you'll need compression, fuel and spark, have just one missing from the list and it won't run.

A new/rebuilt engine might have 180 PSI, get a few years wear and it might be about 160 PSI or so.

An engine will run at 100 PSI but will not produce much power.

Checked the timing with the plugs removed and shined a timing light on the advancer marks?

Mfolks' timing light check is a good one, It takes little time, & while I've never seen it on a Kaw, I've encountered TCI's which would still cause spark, But timing was erratic.G
