Power range was created by popsido
Can anyone tell me where to find a graph or info on the power range of a KZ650 C3?
I want to know what the cruising rpm is for this bike.
It turns 5000 rpm's at 55 now:huh:

Hi Pop, Sounds about like my KZ 650. These engines just like to rev. What you are experiencing is normal. Changing any gear ratio would effect the performance. Bob

Pop, My FSM for KZ650 B2/D1A has 2 pages of graphs desesignated to HP & torque at rpm, & driving force at vehicle speed /rpm. I doubt they were ever "honest", but are there. right at the end of SPECIFICATONS (pages 8 &9) man. # 9992?-1007-01 G

According to the sevice specifaction handbook for 77' - 79' the max hp for the KZ650C3 is 64hp/8,500rpm, U model (U.S. model) 62hp at 8,000rpm, and G model (German model) 67hp at 8,500rpm.
Max torque is 5.8 kg-m at 7000rpm or for the german model 6.1 Kg-m at 7,000rpm.
My point is that if you are running this bike at 5500 RPM then you aren't fully utilizing it's powerband. If I can find my manual I'll send a picture of fuel consumption, Hp, and torque curves.

Let's see if this uploads. If it does it contains GPz750 maps but they are pretty similar to what the 650 maps look like.

Is this what your looking for? By the way, my 650 does 5800rpm's at 70 mph with stock (16/42) gearing. (click on image for larger version)

Welcome popsido.
I cruise in 4th and 5th gears anywhere from 5000~8500 rpms.
If I drop below 5000, I will usually down shift a gear.
Depends on how clear the road is too.
