engine numbers?????

i just bought two kz one is a 1000 and other one is a 900 it starts out with kz1e and the 1000 starts out with kta wanting to know info on them please

my bike is titled as a 1978 KZ1000 - the numbers for my frame and engine match up as a bike made in Japan as a KZ1000A2. I have a white sticker on the frame that has 6/77 on it. Are bikes like cars, a 2010 comes out in 2009 ?
