I see pod filters in your picture. Were the carbs re-jetted for them? If not,the bike will not run properly. Getting carbs set up right for pods can sometimes be quite a challenge. There are about a gruzillion threads on this very topic on this website.

round slides would certainly look more period, but wouldnt go for them if your engine is stock, they like high flow through them.
expensive too, 600-700 for Cr's, even more for flats and they will need some tuning to work well.

i agree that a bike that close to stock may be well served to retain those stocker carbs

Any preference for flat vs round slide carbs. I am looking to replace the OEM carbs which run horribly up to 1/4 throttle. I have a 1984 KZ1100R and was thinking 38MM.
38mm is way too large for your stock engine.
If you're carbs have a jet kit installed, it's just a matter of tuning them. If not, get one if you're keeping the stock carbs.
If you want performance, aftermarket carbs, eith CRS33 or RS34 would be your best, all around options.

Rest of engine is stock, a mechanic buddy was going to do some flow work on the head so a larger carb may be needed.
First time user of this forum, thanks for the tips and links.

The main reason that I was replying was to say congratulations. That bike is stunning. Welcome to KZR!
