78 kz1000 having a cam problem need help

my 78 kz1000 was created by manover21
I replaced bearing sleeves on my kz1000 set the top front cam down will not sit flat same as for the rear raised on one side how do I get the cams set in place its like the valves are up ,cranked the engine around did nothing

trying to get my front and rear cam in having a problem with them sitting flush cams are up on one side like valves are holding them up does anyone have any answers

push down on the cam cap with your hand enough to get the bolts started then tighten them down evenly and work back and forth between the cam caps evenly make doubly sure of your timing marks and dont panic take your time.do you have a manual.

It's because the cam lobes are facing down (valve would be open if the cam was in). Just push down on the cam until you can thread the cap bolts in then tighten as per your shop manual. Make sure the cams and crank are in the proper position to avoid bending the valves.

Like timebomb33 said, be patient and do not over torque the bolts. I believe about 100 IN/LB is plenty.

That's the spec, but I have read many posts claiming they stripped some at that setting. I torqued mine to 100 I-P but I have a very accurate torque wrench. Be careful not to exceed the spec.

clean the threads and bolts real good and dont go bananas on them.....remember, you can always check at your 3k valve adjustment.....they are under constant pressure, they arent gonna back out that much....
