Why smoke after being on sidestand?

I'll try again,

Why after being on the sidestand does my Z smoke initially. If I leave it on the centerstand it doesn't do this. I treat it the same either way, and I always turn my petcock off. Any ideas?

Thanks

Uh Oh! You were editing this one while I was deleting the other one

To answer the original question, when the bike is on the sidestand all the oil runs to the left side, and in the head it collects over the left valves, and slowly seeps past teh valve stem between the valve stem and the guide. New valve seals will usually fix the problem, although sometimes the valve guides will need to be replaced.

Well that makes sense. Is that an indication of a worn engine, or is it something that can happen with many miles yet to go?

Thanks

While it is an indication of wear, whether or not you need to do anything about it depends on how bad it smokes. In my humble opinion (Humble, yeah right :) ), if it's not smoking going down the road, then I'm not going to worry about it :D
