sealing an aluminum spacer/gasket was created by martijn
Anyone experience with sealing an aluminum gasket between cilinder and crankcase? I'm going to use it as a spacer to get a lower Compression Ratio....(turbocharger that is)
Do I use 2 standard gaskets, silicon sealer, gleu??

I don't, but I'm curious about how you are handling any timing differences caused by the spacer, as well as the question you are asking.

Also, what engine is this on and what thickness is the spacer? Is it going below the cylinders?

I think a product like 3-Bond or similar is right because they use that to seal engine half cases together without gaskets.

I guess you would have to slot the cams to be able to zero the cam timing onto the mark?

Having just gone through this with my bike I have a bit of info on this subject. Just make sure you get the proper spacer for your engine. Don't use the one size fits all. Cometic will custom build one for your exact size of sleeve.
I had some issues with this(oil leak from base gasket) and after disassembling/reassembling my engine probably 6 times trying different configurations of spacer and base gasket with a "one size fits all" I ordered the proper one and that fixed the problem.

I have some pics to share if your interested.

Here's what Larry and Plum turned me onto.... ;)

TOP Image:
For gaskets and especially in copper gaskets if using...
Due to MRE's milling crapola  I had to double up my cylinder base gasket... Coated both gaskets, both sides, no leaks what so ever... ;)

Middle Image:
Smear a light coat on valve cover gaskets, no leakies... ;) When checking valve clearances, old gaskets come off cleanly and easily... And yes, I replace mine with new gaskets, for $10, hell you bet....

Bottom image:
Split cases.... I also used this under the aluminum head end caps ;) ..... No leakies.

APE, Z1 and especially Schnitz for gaskets....

I know how I'd do it. I know what works for me. I'll just shut up though because I've seen too many times where what works for one guy doesn't work for the next.....then you're an arse because your advice wasn't any good :woohoo:

its a for a kz1200 and a 750 twin. And I always set lobe centers after overhauling since the cams are non stock. So I geuss I'm save:lol: Using 1,5mm spacer...
