Just read in one of the free (Harley) mags that some club took a CSR 750, drained the oil, pegged the throttle, and it survived for over 3 1/2 minutes. That's a looooooooong time and must have been a pretty good motor. Sorry to see it go, RIP.

There was a video on youtube a couple of years back of a 750-Ltd-4 being intentionally abused. They put the bike on the center stand then ran it at what seemed like WOT. It ran for quite a while, but I don't recall if the thing ever quit. That poor bike was smoking like crazy. The sad part is that it was done at Kaw dealership... and it didn't appear to be a pitiful looking beater bike. what a waste.

I was trying to find that video awhile back. Is it still around?

The average motor will run quite a while without oil, I've personally witnessed a International 392 idle for 1/2 hour without oil and no damage obvious, and a 240" Ford six run wide open for 1/2 hour, then the coolant drained and the motor run wide open for another hour before the engine seized. And then there is the famous Briggs & Stratton test where the oil was drained and the engines ran for 20 hours.

You don't even have to drain the oil out of a Harley. I was riding with my Harley buds last night and I got way ahead of 'em on a curvy road...Totally lost 'em in fact.

to be fair, it was an electrical failure, had nothing to do with the massive amounts of oil this thing leaks
