The early KZ1000s (up through 81) used the old style 1015cc engine and then in 82, Kaw switched to the J motor. What kind of info are you looking for? If you are a novice, keep in mind that some cop bikes get hard use and if I were buying one and didn't know bikes, I would take along a mechanic friend to check the bike out for hard use symptoms. Since they sold KZ1000 cop bikes from 1977 to 2004 (I think), it would be helpful to have a year associated with the request for info.

As I understand it, last year 2005 was the final production run of the "J" model engine in the KZ1000 cop bike.

Oddly, they were assembled in 2002 with no apparant assembly in 2003/04 then they put some together in 2005. Imagine buying a BRAND NEW J motor 1982 bike in 2005!
