I am sure its been covered before.
But, what is the best valve guide seal for For Z1-KZ900?
Limited use, low milage, hotrod engine.
Viton, stock OEM, Versah?
Of course, always want the cheaper ones!
Thanks.

Gee, just answered my question at Z1enterprise.
$1.39 a piece. I'll buy 10, I have ripped them in the past trying to get over valve guide.

VITON is orders of magnitude better material for valve seals than standard butyl rubber. It stands up to temperature much better and retains it's elasticity. Definitely worth the extra $ if they are available.

Thanks, I did use a set of them a couple of years ago on a de-stroked 750cc midget car Z1 engine.

What was the reason for de-stroking? How did/does the 2 valve head perform at higher RPM's? What was the motor's performance like?

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

Back 10 years ago, they raced as a class called 3/4 midget racers. They were limited to 750cc. If you were lucky you found the old Z2 crank. Some guys actually left a whole piston out ran 3 cylinders.
They cut the whole tranny of the back of the block and ran it with an in amd out direct drive. Being air cooled the KZ faded.

Now they run moderend liquid cooled engines GSXR's etc.

years back my father ran a mini-spring with a gsxr engine (one of the oil cooled ones) it was like a 1100cc motor if I remember correctly. He ran it the same way (no trans) The last rebuild he was told to expect 200hp on gas. His track closed down however and it has say unused for years now. :(

It is just begging to be put into a bike I think

Put a high Performance, Sno-mobile torq converter on it.
Like a high gear only nitro bike.
A belt from the crank to the torq converter.
The more you twist the throttle the faster you go.
They have them torq converters that handle up to 300 HP.
