When plugging or connecting nipples on exhaust emission cover plates (or when nippled stock plates are replaced with non-nippled after-market plates), is there any reason to retain the valves under the plates? :unsure:

Am thinking both U.S. and Canadian models use the same cylinder head, whereby a U.S. valve cover could be replaced with a Canadian valve cover (without issue of absent valves).

Thoughts?

Good Fortune! :)

I would think that you could ditch the reeds/valves, I did, the (2) hole's in the valve cover itself can be blocked off, via a threaded bolt. It keeps any carbon if any from making the underside of your shiny aluminum (reads APE) covers dirty...:)

the holes do not show in the picture, it is tough to see from all the carbon buildup, but the hole is almost tunnel like, it's at an angle (man I hope you are not messing with me :laugh: )

Nope, no messing --- and thanks for the responses. :cheer:

The earlier pic is from an ebay listing.

Just found this more detailed pic showing the holes;
And a diagram of the CAS (Clean Air System), shown in the following post.

Might be incorrect about the Canadian model having same head as U.S. model, but thinking kawasaki.com says they're the same.

Perhaps the Canadian model heads also have the air passages (unused) from the valve cover to the exhaust valves.

Good Fortune! :)

The best pic I've yet to find explaining air flow on Kaw's CAS.
