primary chain wear limit was created by turboguzzi
trying to find the wear limit for the primary hyvo chain in a 750 but the manual doesnt give one...

does anyone have a clue, say max allowed distance between 20 links or something?

Chiltons says:
"with the crankshaft and the secondary shaft in place, check the primary chain slack. Replace the chain if slack exceeds 27mm/1.08in."
the replacement is a tsubaki hy-vo 3/8p-1w 76 link chain

Laying a straight edege over the outside of the chain and measure deepest point with a ruler would probably work best

this is for the timing chain, which has a tensioner and is much smaller, dont use this for a primary chain

If you need a new one, check out the chain for a early eighties Honda CB900C. IIRC, it's the same chain and an awful lot cheaper than the Kawasaki chain (if it's even available)

The KZ chain is still available but the Honda chain is $60 cheaper - worth a trip to the Honda store!
