In my opinion the most power your going to get out of a stockish engine will be found in the drivetrain. Invest in good sprockets, race chain, spend a good amount of time precisley tuning the chain slack, etc.. What point is there adding 5 or 6 hp if your going to lose it at the chain?

Aluminum sprockets hold up pretty good
And I'll be fitting a Regina GP race chain later today, I'll tell you how well it works.

Mild porting. Carbs are a wild card, I have four sets, I will as wiredgoerge what set is the best and such when that bridge needs to be crossed.

Hey Cruisingram. As far as the porting it is a fairly easy way to improve the breathing of your plant. The trick is not to take off too much, just clean up the rough castings and match the intake runner mouth to the carb boots. Also consider lapping the valves. These are two inexpensive ways to sneak a few extra ponies outta your motor.

Have not done this but have given it some thought.

What about finding a nasty looking kz1100 for cheap?

Rob the pistons, rings, head, and carbs.
You get bigger valves, modern cam profile,
bigger ports, 1189CC, and some increase in compression.

All you'll need to buy are spacer to go under block, camshaft sprockets, idler adapter kit,
and your gasket set. Will have to have your 1015 block bored for the
larger pistons.
