Stupid Noob Question. was created by jimyed
I did a couple of searches with no results so if this is a repeat please point me in the right direction.
I am rebuilding the top end on my KZ550.
I got a set of OEM kawi rings (yes I paid to much ) .
The factory manual says that the second ring has an angled edge. Niether of the rings I have seem to have an angled edge.
One is deep black and the other is deep brown with a silver edge. I am pretty sure that the top ring is the all black one ane that the second ring is the brown /silver one.
Does anyone know for sure? I am getting out the magnifying glass as my eyes may not be so good but ai really want to get this right ....

I believe you'll find the silver edged ring is the TOP (compression) ring. Each ring should have some form of "lettering" on one end of the ring "N25" or such. This lettering must face upward when the rings are installed. The "angle" on the middle ring will be extremely slight. Some middle rings have a "notch" around the circumference of the bottom face of the ring.
Hope this is SOME help.
