I have a hard time seeing how any of these KZ's that starts isn't worth at least $100.

I don't believe the bike would turn over hooked up to a car battery. Something was wrong with it. The last thing this guy needs is another project he can't afford.

yeah man, how about you chill for a few days, then just go back to the original bike you got...you might actually get to ride it that way! lol

ok, ok..ha ha ha....i wanted the motor if i knew it had compression. also it had the lights and coils i needed. but the shape it was in....im better off with my motor. i could have baught it for the head/tale lights and signals, but this bike sat outside for 4 or more years.

the FREE bike i am origionally working on is 10x's nicer than this thing. it just wasnt for me. i got 3 bikes in the garage now.....this thing was a paper weight. maybe itll end up in a museum...lol

who said it was a running bike?

Nobody, but you didn't say it wasn't, either. Sounds like you made the right choice.

DD if i had the cash to rebuild it i would have. this kz i am TRYING...LOL...to get back together, for some reason has grabbed me by the balls. i think it was a combo of things....like this forum, and the appeal i have to the style and era of this bike. the power helps too. if i had the loot, i would have restored it, but a total restoration is what it needed, and i have something closer to running and shiny than this bike.

it would have looked nice to my other kz...lol

good move...the coils and stuff will turn up on auctions cheap or someone here....it is rare to have all of the kz luck fall in the same calendar month......little pieces here...box of cheap stuff there....tid bits new once in a while on paydays....the internet has made chasing down things far easier for these old bikes...but time still takes time....later when you get a runner to work on...then get a beater or two.....for now focus on getting one decent one going....believe me...i have two good runners and it took time....the others will go along slow too.....but...the only way i get anywhere on em is...to think...plan....purchase...and put aside time to work on em......too squirrelly just gets me buying stuff that almost is right ...or that mighta been cheaqper later....and wasting energy&time and filling shelves with stuff that is cool, but does not fit for the current project...delaying confusing the goal

IMO stay away from anything after 1978 for the bike you got for free for now...just get stuff if it is a for sure and fits your gig .....and anything not kawasaki and not 900/1000....for sure -for now.....

good luck...

it never hurts to go look...but step back and do a drive before buying...works for me when unsure...if you find a runner for 500 or under ...hit that thing outta the park and buy it!!!
