I have it off the engine and I'm sitting here trying to figure out how it works.There are 2 springs,and a screw on the outside of the housing,right on the end.That screw threads into(and through)the housing AND into the end of the shaft,locking the shaft into place.
There's a tapered collar that a bearing seats into.
I don't see how to make an adjustment though.:huh:

Hmm...my guess is that it's NOT adjustable,only keeps spring tension on the chain.
Either way,it's back on the bike.

thats how we used to convert the auto adjusters to manual,a long bolt and stop nut to lock in place B)

It's an automatic tensioner, user input not required. All you can do is inspect the push rod, sleeve and lock ball for dents/damage, and measure the spring free length. Hopefully you replaced it properly, you can screw things up if you reinstall it improperly. ;)
