Noticed the back side of my srocket is ridged. And every space between teeth is strechted and wore. I parted out a 78 1000 and saw it has a 33t on it. Will I lose much power switching to this? If I lose any zip at all I'm gonna be sick. I never did like how it wound so much at 80 with the stock 35 though. Maybe it will be faster in the first two gears, she's a high rpm runner so... ? I put a kerker on it and adjusted lobe centers and may not know the diff If I run it with the 33. I take my permit test in one week! Been 10 damn years. It's painted, it's all together more complete than it ever has been. It looks nice too. Very diff than any I've seen yet. This might sound stupid but can I take a pic from a cell phone and put it on this forum? Phones another thing I havn't had for ten years. I fell kindof like rip van winkle. I really don't like the chain and sprockets, or the steel wheels either. Like to change all that someday but for now this is it.

Going from a 35T sprocket to a 33T sprocket will gear you higher. That will give you more top speed but take away some of the bottom end quickness. You won't take off as fast with the 33T. If your motor is tuned for high RPM power, the 33T sprocket would probably not be the ticket. Would be a bear in high gear but down low it wouldn't have as much. It would be the same as going up one tooth on the front. Highway cruising would be better but around town type riding would suffer some as you wouldn't have the power down low on take-off.

I run 33T's on my '75 and '76 900's. It is a much more relaxed, smooth ride. Around town riding is fine too. As racer54 mentioned, it does make a bit of difference in your take off speed so if that is top priority for you, you may not like it. Sort of a tough call. For me I don't even think about it. Mine are stock 903 motors and they are plenty fast enough for my riding style. I much prefer the 33T gearing over the 35T.
