Oil cooler hose repair
20 Aug 2010 10:26
I have a 81 GPZ1100 and one of the oil cooler tube is leaking at a crack at the top of the engine. A new one from Kawasaki is 180.00. Is there a good way to repair these things. Thanks.

Try your local auto parts store. Should be alot cheaper than Ma Kaw. You might try Z1E also to see if they can help

When I replaced the oil cooler hoses on my 1982 GPz1100 B2 model, I removed the hoses from the cooler and engine, and carefully used a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel to remove the "Crimp" next to the fittings.
It was then easy to remove the fittings. I found a brand of oil rated hose carried by :http://www.holley.com/types/Pro-Lite%20350%20Hose.asp
I've found that the fuel injection hose clamps(the kind without the "Worm Gear")will treat the hoses better as rubber will not extrude through them.

I good industrial supply store should have Goodyear hoses in red or black that are made for oil cooler application. They should also have barbed fittings that require no clamps. I am running those on my KZ1000 with Satrab oil cooler now for awhile with nary a leak or problem.bj
