im looking to purchase a service manual for my 78 kz650. id really like to invest in a manual that a dealership would use. ive used haynes/clymer manuals for automobiles and felt they were missing info a lot of times. anyone have a recommendation for dealership type manual and were i could find them? would they have info on how to rebuild carbs as well? thanks

OEM Service manual is the only way to go... Yew, covers carbs....

Not sure which year so FREE download of Kawi KZ650 manual....

For Carb theory, service, rebuild, plug reading etc....

The whole enchilada.... Theory, various carb models, spark plug reading, jetting & tuning etc....

And yes, I really do use the Gunson Color tune for I don't have the ear for tuning to the degree I want my carbs to operate under for full optimum performance.... :whistle:

There I said it, I'm not worthy.... :blush:

Kawasaki factory service manuals come up for sale on ebbaayy regularly. Sometimes you have to be patient, but eventually something turns up. Also, some sellers who seem to list a number of manuals might have one available but not listed, so ask.

There are other places to get one as well... Craigslist, books4cars.com, repairmanuals.com. Some of the online retailers seem kinda pricy, though.

Here's one for cheap that's missing the cover: KAWASAKI KZ650 ORIGINAL SERVICE MANUAL 1978
Before buying any manual, I would ask what specific models it covers, usually listed on the back cover where there should be a model application chart. Also, the models covered is probably within the manual as well (they are in my 81-82 650 manual).
