Exhaust clean air block off plates. was created by otakar
I am thinking of installing a set of Block-off plates on the valve cover. Anyone know if the reads stay in place under these pates? Or do the reads get removed and some new seal comes with the plates.

I can't see what the difference would be. Once blocked off there is no reed function anyway, so me I would pull the reeds out, if you had the head off you could even plug the port and smooth it out for less turbulence. Also you gain a small amount of gap from the valve cover to the coils etc when you go back to service the top end, and possibly better heat transfer for better head cooling?

Reeds stay in place the REED cage has rubber seal on to seal it to the valve cover recess.

TPO installation instructions show removing the reed valve, but not replacing it.

Depending on application, would imagine the kits include gaskets of some fashion if needed to seal between the plates and valve cover.

Maybe I overlooked a section on the site dealing with gaskets.

Good Fortune! :)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI don't trust a set of sheet aluminum parts, not using a gasket, and besides I went on the websight and they do not show it for our bikes. What seals the ports from each other if the valve and gasket is removed. In that case you have to block off the individual holes in the head or the cover. But I did find a set of these which look much better and are MUCH MUCH cheaper than the APE parts. If this was a performance part than I would not mind having an advertisement on them but they are not and I do not believe in paying big bucks for a part and than advertising for the company at the same time. These plates are built the same way and they are $20 cheaper then the ones with the advertisement on them. You also have a choice of the KZ or GPZ logo.
