Cylinder Boring
11 Aug 2010 21:30
Since the cost of stock 750 rings is about half the cost of the Wiseco 810 kit I opted for the kit. Now I just need to get my cylinders bored out. I'm trying to find a place locally here in Spokane, WA to do it, but wanted to know if everyone here has a particular place to ship their cylinders out and how much does it typically run to do the boring?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Myself i only use "FAST BY GAST" for boring, on a 810 for a 750 you better have it perfect as there is NO room for error as the sleeve is thin when bored to 810. Paul has done a few for me for the 750 turbo applications.

I think it was $60/hole for boring at the shop I went to here. Ask one of the wrench turners at a local dealer who they use to do their machine work and you should get a good one.

I ONLY use Pit Stop Performance. Joe charges only $125 for the block and the postage is not that much if you send it FedEx Ground which is what I use. Joe advertises on this web sight and I find him to be one of the best in the business and the cheapest.

He has done three blocks for me including a KZ1300 block. He only recently raised his prices from $100 to $125 per block which still no one can match. FedEx ground usually only costs me about $16 from Chicago.

Have to agree with Otto here. I've heard good things and prices are very competative.

When I had My block bored for the GPz1150 Joe even took care of having the custom pistons made at MTC. I guess his shop is only a few miles from MTC and he has a good rapport with them. He will bend over backwards to make you happy.

If all you want is "good enough" then any of the places listed can do it. If maximum ring seal and ring life is your goal, then there are a lot fewer places that can do it.
Educate yourself, do a search for "cylinder honing" then you'll know the questions to ask.

I had Joe bore my cylinder plus rebuild my cylinder head. I now have over 2k miles on the motor and I'm very happy with his work.
