ok... not sure what happened really. I re-did the starter clutch on Sunday and drove it all over hell yesterday. Things seemed to hold up nice so thats good. I noticed that my bike seems to have less power than it did before. I have to ride the hell out of the clutch to take off. Its got good power and has no problem squeeling the tires. It still can pull really hard up hills and stuff. Just seems like a power loss. My bike also seems to be running very lean. While idling, it will pop. At stop lights every one in a while when i rev it, it will spit ones and almost cut out for a second and then rev no problem. Am i gonna burn my valves up or burn a hole in one of the pistons if i keep riding it? You would think that if anything was wrong, that would have already happened since i have been driving it so much. I do have a small battery in it right now. like the one that was in my GS300 suzuki. Also, my tabs on my fuse box were a bit dirty and sometimes i would have to wiggle the main to make a good connection before my lights would come on. Would wiring or electric have anything to do with it?

Thanks guys,
KT

how many volts do you have at the coils? Should have 12v or better....have you lubricated (checked) your mechanical advance?

Yes, a very good chance that you have an electrical problem. These bikes need a steady source of electrical power to run smoothly. I'd clean and tighten the fuse clips.

Brasso or other metal polish should remove any corrosion that might be causing your problem. Also open up the right handlebar switch pod and inspect/clean the run/stop switch and the start switch.

The headlight housing has a lot of electrical connectors too. I'd suggest spending a day cleaning them. Some smoke shop pipe cleaners will get in tight areas on female conectors. On the male "Bullet Connectors? a brass bristle brush will knock off corrosion.

I use "De-oxit" contact cleaner/preservative on my bike. It can be bought at Radio Shack stores or any electronic supplt places. www.deoxit.com is their website.

I'D NOT ADVISE USING WD-40 ON ELECTRCAL CONTACTS as it over time become a non- conductor.
