KZ750 upgrading to 810 question was created by drmadd95
So I'm working on an 82 kz750 motor to replace my 650 motor and after I got the starter clutch repaired I checked the compression and found that two of the cylinders were very low (right around 100 psi). Anyway I'm tearing the whole top end off including the cylinders so I can replace all the gasekets and o-rings.

I found the reason for the low compression in the cylinders. Apparently this motor sat for awhile and there is some pitting in the cylinders. I'm taking it to get looked at to see if honing and re-ringing will fix the issue. If I have to bore it out to put in oversized pistons then I'm going to just get the 810 kit to install.

Do you guys think I should just go ahead and put in the 810 kit since I've got it all apart? The rest of the motor is stock and I didn't plan on upgrading anything else as far as the cams, head, or carbs. Will just putting in the 810 kit without doing anything else really wake up this motor or am I just wasting my money without the other upgrades?

Thanks in advance.

If you have BS34 carbs, then you'll need a dynojet stage 3 kit just to get enough fuel into it. Other than that, you can do nothing else and still get a big bump in power.

Yes a stage 3 carb recalibration kit gpz750 cams would go nice with that combo but not ness.

I have the Keihin CV34 carbs that came with the 750 motor I'm working on. To be honest I'm not sure which Mikuni carbs I have on my 650 right now. I think they are the VM34 if that is what came stock on it.

more cc's alone will give u more torque down low. larger cams ,carbs, and porting will move the power up in the rpm range. Generaly speeking.
The cv34's should be plenty.
