APE cam chain tensioner was created by apbling
What do people think about the APE cam chain tensioners. I am thinking about buy them form my 550 and 750, but they seem a little high priced...
When you tighten them down, how do you know how tight to adjust them? Is there a torque spec?

You can get the same thing on ebay for about $15 less and it has a new gasket with it. I think the one for the 900's will fit the 750 you have ,that is if it's a 4 cyl. The 550 is different though. The APE ones are alright, I have 3 of the ebay ones on my bikes and they work great.

If you search for that item in the sight search engine you will find that there is a plethora of threads on this subject. If you don't like the APE here is a link for a different one.

Finger tight seems to work best on 900/1000 motors.I overtightend the first one I bought and the camchain ate the rubber roller in front of the adjuster. Found it all in the oil pan...

When I called APE about it they told me "finger tight, and back off 1/4 turn" Engine must be at TDC.
