Hello Guys i just got my head back from the shop, and is ready to be installed. The only problem is I dont have the torque specs. I have a 1983 GPZ 305. It has the kz 305 motor. The dealer could not provide me with this information because they did not have the manual on hand, neither could they have ordered it. Is there anything else I could cross refrence with? Any thoughts.....

Gune, I certainly can't help you but since your engine is similar to a KZ400/KZ400, I would suspect one of those folks could provide some useful info. If I owned one of the small twins and it used 8mm studs, I would probably FIRST use copper crush washers (if they were originally installed) after annealing them. This process involves heating with a torch till red hot and dropping into water to restore the elasticity (crushability?). Then, I would torque the nuts in a crossing pattern working from in to out and first torque to 18 ft/lbs then retorquing in the same crossing pattern from in to out at 25 ft/lbs. A better answer MIGHT be had on Odd Ivars KZ400 web site which is surely linked somewhere here on this site. I am pretty sure the 400 engine will have very similar toruing pattern and specs.

Gune, if no one answers your query by tonight, I think I have the KHI shop manual for the Z305 at home. I'll either post the specs or scan and post the specs on this site (scanning will take a day longer as my scanner is at work).
