Hi everybody, z1 messed up my order, and i couldnt get my clymer for the top end torque specs i need, if anybody knows the cam bolt torque specs and the cam gear specs they would be greatly appreciated. The model is a 1979 kz650c3.

If you mean the 10mm bolts that go through the caps that hold the camshafts down, the spec is about 110 INCH-pounds and you REALLY don't want to push those (they strip easily). You need a low range torque wrench for those.

Do you also know the gear that gets held onto the camshaft? By the two bolts.

My manual says "camshaft sprocket bolts" are about 10 foot-pounds torque.

Clymer? Are you stocking an outhouse with emergency paper? :laugh: You should get a Kawasaki factory service manual. They're available on eBay; just be sure to get the one for your exact model/year. Ed

Forgot to mention: my camshafts looked likethe bolts that hold the gears had threadlocker on them. The Kawi factory threadlock on mine is this banana yellow colored stuff and I seem to recall seeing it on those bolts(?) My manual doesn't cover it, but I would think some kind of non-permanent threadlock would be a good idea.

z1 never messes up an order,and to prove it theyve got the kzrmhp out searching your neighbors outhouse for that missing clymers manual

Still recovering,some days are better than others.
